Farming
Delivering the best quality vegetables all starts out in the fields. Only the best land is selected for our root crops. They then go through a number of growing processes which ensure the best quality once harvested.
We grow roughly 3800 acres of root crops a year, 2800 acres of that is carrots, 800 acres of parsnips and 200 acres of chantenay. Our root crops are grown in all areas of the country ranging from Scotland to Suffolk. This allows us to bring in our early produce at the start of the season from the warm south and then work our way up north throughout the year to Inverness, Scotland where the produce stores longer after a cold winter. We also grow in the east and western parts of the country to allow more flexibility in versatile weather conditions.
Our Quality Fresh Vegetables
We are made unique by our integrated business model, an end to end supply chain optimisation; we are the growers, packers and have our own transport fleet. This gives us a full end to end ownership over the full Roots supply chain.
Our regional spread for growing allows mitigation from extreme weather and pests/disease pressures and avoids over intensive farming.
We are able to harvest to have a final packed product in 24 hours or less.

Climate Change / Biodiversity Projects on our Farms
As the effects of climate change continue to adversely impact the environment, Huntapac is acutely aware of its responsibility.
As well as the new dumpers, it has also invested in hybrid fleet vehicles, installed EV chargers, and fitted LED lighting in its packhouse. We also have numerous projects running in our farms to fulfil our obligations to the environment and biodiversity/net zero targets as a business.
